Both the husband and the daughter seem to behave oddly and unrealistically at significant moments and the few rare moments of anger/passion seem eerily detached. Julianne Moore was great, and this is why i gave it a 4 instead of 1. It brought up a lot of deep emotions and really touched me. Was this review helpful? In order to obtain the money, Jacob must travel to Copenhagen, meet with Jörgen, get financial assistance, and be back to celebrate Pramod's 8th birthday. But it's deft handling of character drama and intrigue-filled more melodramatic elements make for a very solid, surprising and well made film. I definitely want to see the Danish version now! I love love love my family - more than anything - and I love life, and this is the first movie I've seen that really conveys the depth of those emotions for me. It opened me up in a way that I can't remember ever experiencing from a movie. Do not miss this film!
This movie is certainly not "Father of the Bride" or "Four Weddings and a Funeral", although an early scene comically shows Julianne Moore singing along to Lady Gaga's "Edge of Glory" in her car. a list of 74 titles Was this review helpful? I was not aware that this was a remake. Same screenwriter but it's missing the beautiful subtlety of the close ups at hands and eyes that made the acting so special in the Danish one. Christoffer and Maja's trip to Prague to bring back Chistoffer's deceased father evolves into the story of a break-up. After the wedding ceremony, Christian makes a speech. A free-spirited woman in her 50s seeks out love at L.A. dance clubs. After the Wedding is one of those thoroughly inessential yet subtle and well-crafted films made for grown-ups who like sitting back and watching the inner turmoil of other grown-ups.
