I like this game better then Mario Kart 8 and Crash Team Racing. Episode 1: Racer is still a great futuristic racing game, which is as surprising now as it was back then. Relive all the thrills and excitement of the Podracer sequence from Star Wars: Episode I.
However, there are some glitches (camera skipping under the ground, crashes into thin air) and visual annoyances (I think it's not based on the PC version, but on one of the consoles instead, which seems like a strange choice for current-gen hardware) that distract me. Even if I didn’t end up practicing enough to master them, I imagine movement success would make me feel like The Force was with me.At least the traditional controls are tight, (as long as you aren’t suffering from Joy-Con drift).

It’s still as fast as ever, and it’s still an entertaining racer, even more so if you’re a Star Wars fan, naturally. Fast and exhilarating, this Switch version seems unfinished, and features bugs, popping and clipping effects, without mentioning a horribly compressed soundtrack that does not justice to its brilliant composer. All the pods and racers are really cool. Now, Star Wars Episode 1: Racer is back as basically the same game but on modern consoles, thanks to developers Aspyr. Anakin Skywalker races again, on Switch and PS4. The other thing I will caution to players is that the tracks can be long. Even though I was first introduced to video games with the Atari 2600 (I feel old) it was Nintendo that turned me into a lifelong fan. Ofcourse the graphics are really outdated, but the gameplay is just excellent.Hot take.
