This is an extremely impressive debut novel.I Let You Go is a very smart, very clever psychological mystery by new British author Clare Mackintosh. I’m so proud of this one.My favorite song on my new album is ‘Let You Go.’ It’s a song I wrote in my bedroom after… the first grown, intense breakup for me. Let You Go I'm anticipating this will be the 'it' book of summer so go ahead and snatch up a copy... NOW! I haven't been this caught off guard by a thriller in a while. [They leave Jenna go home, without any police protection and don't even arrange for someone to watch her house or check up on her when she returns home to an incredibly remote area in Wales where she has no neighbours and Ian could easily find her which he does and proceeds to beat her. To me, this song is about a guy chasing a gal but it is not working out.
Someone who loves this girl . The story involves a hit and run killing of a 5-year-old boy and is told from the POV of 3 characters—our main protagonist Jenna, the lead detective on the case Ray, and a man named Ian. I'm not sure the story could've handled another voice, but without her voice a crucial piece was missing. All up until part 2 I though jenna was jacobs mum! Saying that it's heavy would be an understatement, but it's one that is such an incredibly crafted story that I know it's one that will stay on my favorites list for years to come. She lives in North Wales with her husband and their three children.“My steps feel lighter now and I realize it’s because I’m running toward something, and not away from it.”“Five years of someone's life is too much to lose over a throwaway comment.” His cocky, patronizing, misogynistic air brought out a visceral reaction in me. Easily the best thriller I have read in ages. I received a copy of I Let You Go through NetGalley. I could feel myself tensing as soon as I realized he was speaking and I found his matter-of-a-fact retelling of horrible physical and mental abuse off putting. Ms. Mackintosh is an excellent writer. After it was well-established, it began to feel like too much. in my opinion, the meaning is you are really like someone, yet you cannot show it. You will have so many reasons for this.You cannot show your feeling because internal or external reason. I love a good psychological thriller, and this one fell into the category of excellent ones. The policing aspect was a bit annoying, too many acronyms for me, and also the teaming of the DI and other detective on her way up was a bit forced. Let's discuss it. So anyway... fair warning. Finally a book actually worthy of its Gone Girl comparison- it is full of incredibly well crafted twists. I'm still utterly speechless and I finished this several hours ago- 3 AM to be exact.
